Course Details

Course Description

Starting at the rear of the McLaren Vale & Fleurieu Coast Visitor Centre, the 10K and 5K Ginny Pig Runs both follow an out-and-back course along the Shiraz Trail under Victor Harbor Road and towards Seaford.

The 5K turns back after 2.5K with an elevation change of around 20 metres.

The 10K turns back after 5K (just past Main South Road) and has an elevation change of around 60 metres.

Both runs finish on the lawns of the Visitor Centre.

Drink Stations

There will be one drink station on the 10K course near the halfway turnaround.

Only compostable cups made from plant-based materials will be used to minimize our impact on the environment. Please try to hit the bins provided at the water stations and be aware that littering on the course will result in disqualification. Runners may also carry their own drink bottle or cup to refill at water stations.

There are no drink stations on the 5K course, but water will be available at the start-finish area.

Toilets

Toilets can be found in the McLaren Vale & Fleurieu Coast Visitor Centre, near the main entrance, and additional portaloos will also be on site.

There is one public toilet just before Stump Hill Road (~200m after the start line) but there will be no other toilets on course.

Cut Off Time

The Ginny Pig Run is open to both runners and walkers and the course will be closed at 7:30 pm (a pace of 9:00 per kilometre for the 10K).

A tail walker will follow the last participant around the course for safety reasons.  If you fail to maintain the minimum pace you will be asked to stop and return to the start finish area. This is the last thing we want to do on race day so if you are not confident that you can complete the 10K in this time please enter the 5K event instead.

Marshals

Please be courteous to our marshals and other volunteers. Remember that they are giving up their evening to make sure that you will enjoy your run.

ALWAYS FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN BY COURSE MARSHALS.

Traffic Management

The Ginny Pig Run course is run on the Shiraz Trail bike path with 3 road crossings that will be controlled by accredited traffic managers.

Presentations

Prizes will be awarded to the first 3 male and first 3 female placegetters in the 10K and 5K.  Presentations will be made at the finish line after the last competitor has finished (around 7:30 pm).
